India – home to over one billion people and millions of gods - is the largest democracy on earth.. Statistics tell us that less than 2% of India are evangelical Christians, while 80% are Hindu and 12% Muslim. While missionary visas for evangelism are virtually impossible to obtain, national believers have religious freedom in most places to evangelize (in some places Christians are being persecuted).
OAC began in India in 1987 with our first Indian evangelist. Now five branches in five states are proclaiming the gospel to thousands of unreached people every month. All our evangelists are Indian, and have studied at Bible College. Their main ministry is going to villages to present the gospel through films and preaching. Usually our OAC branches have 3 evangelists, a jeep, film equipment, and a generator.
People of all castes come to our film meetings, and listen intently as our evangelists preach. The message of the cross knows no class distinction..Illustrated messages in black light are used to help the people understand and remember. Most have never heard that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. All outreaches are done in partnership with evangelical churches, and some of these have planted churches from the response. Hundreds are also doing in Bible Correspondence courses, and many of these students are coming to faith in Christ.
Our national evangelists need no visa, language school, cultural orientation, or costly budget, but only the prayers and modest support of God's people abroad. It takes only $150 a month to support a married national evangelist. An evangelist may be supported through 5 sponsors at $30 a month, or through larger gifts.
Our four Sewing Schools also need the prayers and support of God's people. Tuition is provided free of charge to poor women, who are being taught by our qualified Christian teachers. The students also attend devotions led by our teachers and evangelists. Many of these students come to faith in Christ. A student may be sponsored for only $15 a month.
Would you prayerfully consider being a partner with an OAC evangelist in the harvest fields of India, or a sponsor of one or more poor young women in our Sewing Schools? Support may be sent to:
